Governor Abdullahi Ganduje declares that he would make his state investor-friendly and that as a result, he is already creating an enabling environment for invetors
– The areas of interest to the Spanish team, led by the country's ambassador to Nigeria, include solar energy, agriculture, water treatment and health.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state on Friday, July 22 met with the Spanish ambassador to Nigeria, Alfonso Barnuevo, as well as a representative of Spanish investment companies for deals that could bring investments to his state.
The focus of the meeting, according to Salihu Tanko Yakasai, the governor's spokesman, was to look into how the state could benefit from solar energy, agriculture, water treatment plant and health among others.
The governor, who recently announced plans to construct a total of 2,000 housing units that would each cost N2.7 million for the benefit of low and average income earners,
stated that his government was providing the enabling environment for investors willing to come.
On his part, Mr Barnuevo said his country was particularly interested in solar energy and the proposed light rail project.
He stated that representatives of NOVO company from Spain will come to Kano in August 2016 for further discussions on the solar power project for the state among other areas of interest to the team.
The ambassador also gave a letter of appreciation to Ganduje for the reception accorded to him and his delegation on their recent visit to Kano to witness the Eid El Fitr Durbar celebrations.
